You are most at risk when you:
- handle money;
- provide care to people who are ill, on medication, in a panic, or afraid of what might happen to them, especially in the NHS and emergency services;
- deal with people who have a great deal of anger or feelings of failure;
- face friends and family of patients, clients or students who are anxious, angry, afraid, or who feel they can't cope with a large 'bureaucracy' such as a hospital or school from which they are seeking help;
- enforce rules or regulations, e.g. benefit officers, council inspectors etc.;
- provide an essential service or benefit, or have the power to withdraw it;
- deal with people who are intoxicated or under the influence of drugs; and
- are in situations where you represent authority.
