Very few employers provide information about the menopause. A survey for the British Occupational Health Research Foundation by the University of Nottingham in 2011 found that few women were prepared for the onset of menopause and they were even less prepared for its effects at work. Over half had not discussed their symptoms with their manager, and the majority felt they needed more advice and support.
