Working alone can give you a strong sense of isolation. You may feel you lack support, and you may find you are working longer hours. Your employer should keep in regular contact, e.g. through newsletters, access to training and regular work reviews. Conciliation service Acas recommends making an effort to phone colleagues or managers to discuss work-related issues. It is also important to set up regular visits to the office for formal or informal meetings and to participate in any social events.
