If you win compensation for unfair dismissal at an employment tribunal, your award will be made up of a basic award and a compensatory award. The basic award is calculated by taking your age, years of service and average weekly pay to arrive at a figure. However, the weekly pay figure is limited to a maximum of £475 per week, and the maximum number of years that will be considered is 20. It can be reduced if the tribunal thinks you contributed to the dismissal in some way.
