Employment rights enjoyed by a group of workers – often, though not exclusively, exercised through a trade union. For example, an employer must consult with the workforce as a whole when making significant redundancies (i.e. 20 or more in a year). This would take place through a recognised union, an existing works council or, if no appropriate body existed, one would have to be set up.
