A formal way of resolving a problem you have at work. There is a minimum statutory procedure which should be followed if your employer does not have a policy of their own. You can find more information on this at the Resolving Disputes website. Many good employers, however, will have their own policy which goes further than the minimum, often based around the corresponding Acas Code of Practice. You have the right to be accompanied by a colleague or a union officer in a grievance hearing.
