What are the likely effects on me as an individual if I am being bullied?

Bullying can be immensely upsetting for individuals, eroding their self-confidence and sense of personal worth. It also often results in stress and sometimes lengthy sickness absence.

At the very least it is likely to affect your ability to do your job efficiently and effectively, so it is in employers’ own interests to take complaints of bullying seriously, as well as being morally the right thing to do.

If workplace bullying is making you ill, visit your GP. It can be a good idea to ask your GP to note on your Fit Note that your illness is linked to workplace bullying.
