Which jobs are covered by sexual orientation discrimination legislation?
The law covers:
- job applicants;
- employees, contract workers and some freelance workers;
- office holders;
- armed forces;
- barristers and advocates; and
The law also covers agency workers, employment agencies, trade associations, providers of vocational training and institutions of further and higher education.
Genuine volunteers are not usually protected by the 'work' provisions of the Equality Act 2010.
