Am I allowed time off to attend a job interview?

Not normally – if your employer does not operate a flexitime scheme, you will probably have to take it as annual leave. Of course, it might not be the best idea to let your employer know you're looking for other jobs by asking for time off for an interview in the first place.

Your employer may let you have time off in certain circumstances. For example, they may allow you time off if the interview is for an internal vacancy. If you are facing redundancy, and you have worked for your employer for at least two consecutive years, you are entitled to a reasonable amount of time off during your notice period to look for another job.
