My internship is only for limited hours. Does this affect what rights I am entitled to at work?
Provided you meet the definition of a 'worker', you may have the right to be paid the same rate of pay and to receive the same bonuses and pension entitlements as a full-time worker who is doing the same or a similar job.
Part-time workers are entitled to equal treatment on a pro rata basis, i.e. in proportion to the hours that they work.
In some instances, an employer may be able legally to justify paying a part-time worker less than a full-time worker (e.g. because they have fewer skills or qualifications, or less experience than the full-time worker). But an employer cannot pay them less just because they work part-time.
Visit the GOV.UK website for more information about part-time workers' rights.
