When should I be paid?

Wages are usually paid on a monthly basis for salaried employees and weekly for staff paid by the hour. Some employers may pay on a different basis, e.g. fortnightly or every two months. Whatever the frequency of payment, it must be specified in a written statement of particulars, which should be given to employees within eight weeks of starting work.

Employees must be notified of any variation in the frequency of payment within one month of the change.
