Am I entitled to private health insurance and under what terms?

Not unless it says so in your contract. There is no automatic entitlement to private health insurance. Any entitlement to private health insurance benefits should be clearly stated in your contract of employment as an express term.

The provision of private health insurance will be considered by the Inland Revenue as a taxable benefit (except if you are employed overseas).

Your employer must not discriminate unlawfully when deciding who is entitled to benefits such as private health insurance.
