Who is entitled to minimum pay?

Most workers aged 16 years and over, including part-time workers, are entitled to the National Minimum Wage (NMW). Amongst those to whom it does not apply are:

  • members of the armed forces;
  • family members working in the family business;
  • genuine volunteers; and
  • people working and living as part of a family.
