Does RSI go by any other name?
Yes. Occupational health specialists use other terms to describe these conditions, such as musculoskeletal disorders (MSDs), upper limb disorders (ULDs), work-related upper limb disorders (WRULDs), Occupational Overuse Syndrome and Cumulative Trauma Disorders.
RSI can damage particular parts of the body, and each has its own medical name. Examples include:
- carpal tunnel syndrome;
- epicondylitis (e.g. 'tennis elbow' when occurring in the elbow joint);
- shoulder capsulitis;
- cervical spondylosis; and
- tension neck.
