How common is dermatitis?

Occupational dermatitis is one of the most widespread causes of ill health at work, affecting workers in a wide range of industries and occupations. Analysis of Labour Force Survey (LFS) data over three years up to 2015/16 shows an estimated 6,000 new cases of “skin problems” each year that were caused or made worse by work.

LFS data from 2013/14, 2014/15 and 2015/16 shows there are currently an estimated 17,000 people currently or recently in work with skin problems they regard as caused or made worse by work.
