Should I talk to my employer?
Yes, but it depends on what you think is the main cause of your stress.
- If workload or work organisation is the issue, discuss it with your supervisor. If you cannot resolve the problem there, talk to the personnel department, union rep or fellow workers.
- If long hours are the issue, start a new routine of leaving at, say, 5.30pm whenever possible. Try to work regular hours, and take holidays due.
Build your own support network of people you work with. Sounding off about the latest turn of events at work can help to put things into perspective.
Remember, if you decide to meet management, you have the right to be accompanied by a union rep, fellow worker or other person of your choice. Find out more about the right to be accompanied.
