Who is at risk of Deep Vein Thrombosis (DVT)?

Some people are more at risk of DVT than others. Those more at risk include:

  • women who are pregnant or taking the contraceptive pill or hormone replacement therapy (HRT);
  • people over 40 years old;
  • people with cancer or other serious illnesses;
  • smokers; and
  • people who are obese.
