When do PMS symptoms occur?

PMS symptoms appear at some time during the second half, or 'luteal phase', of the menstrual cycle. This is the time between ovulation and menstruation. Symptoms then disappear, or at least significantly improve, either on the first day of the period, or after the day when the flow is heaviest.
