How should I deal with stress at work?

Stressful situations make PMS worse. Therefore:

  • Try to gain more control over your job, and pace yourself when you are under pressure. TUC guide Keeping well at work gives examples of how PMS sufferers learned to adapt their work during their monthly cycle.
  • Team support can help a lot. There are always opportunities to return that support.
  • Plan ahead. You will know when your PMS symptoms are likely to be more severe.
  • Learn relaxation techniques. They will help you manage your PMS and help you calm down. The relaxation you choose could be a quiet hour to yourself, reading a book, having a long soak in a hot bath, or yoga. Your GP may be able to advise on relaxation exercises.
