What workplace hazards does my GP need to know about?
Your GP needs to know about the types of hazards and risks you are exposed to at work. These could be:
- chemical; or
Employers are required to carry out health surveillance, i.e. to survey the health effects of workplace hazards. If unusual results are found, they should let you know, and ask your permission to send the results to your GP. Your GP can then consider with you any necessary medical treatment.
With your consent, your GP can write to your employer for information about any survey in which you have taken part, or which covers the type of work you do, regardless of how the employer has used the results.
