What kind of voluntary work is available?
Pretty much anything you could care to imagine. Volunteer work can get you involved in: homeless shelters; working with the elderly; working with children; staffing helplines; working on environmental projects; mental health; working with animals; residential schools; disabled people; pet rescue; community projects; setting up recycling programmes; working with excluded young people; teaching English to refugees; or helping out at a local charity shop.
There are never enough volunteers, and organisations in all these areas will welcome your involvement. Whichever of these areas you choose, you’ll find it brings with it a whole new experience and set of skills that will benefit your community, strengthen your CV and give you a sense of fulfilment that few paid jobs do.
