What kind of exercise is right for me?

There are endless possibilities to get some enjoyable, cheap and easily accessible exercise – running, swimming, cycling, hiking, going to a gym, rock climbing, boxing, judo, tennis, squash, ice skating… we could go on. Whatever age, size or physical shape you are in, there’s an exercise to suit you. It can be as demanding or as gentle as you like. There are team sports that require you to develop a high level of fitness so you can take part in intense, often heavily physical games. Other forms of exercise, such as yoga and Pilates, allow you to improve your fitness much more gently, in your own time and with no equipment necessary.

Think about what you’d like to do and give it a try. If it’s a struggle at first, don’t forget that everyone was a beginner once and everything gets easier. If you don’t take to one thing you can always try another. And it doesn’t even have to be very ambitious at all. Even a walk in the park can do you a power of good.
