What would happen if I deliberately falsified my expenses?

Falsification of expenses is fraud. You would be committing a criminal offence and risking a criminal prosecution. It is also a breach of trust and confidence and would, therefore, justify your summary dismissal by your employer (i.e. your dismissal without notice or notice pay).
