No. The repeal of the Truck Acts some years ago meant that employees lost their right to payment of wages in cash, although a small minority of employers still pay in this way.
The method of payment is now a matter for agreement between you and your employer. Most employers will pay directly into the employee's bank, building society or other account. This is not only administratively convenient for the employer, but also minimises any security risk.
