Once you have given notice that you intend to take a period of adoption leave, you can change the date that the leave will begin on, providing you give your employer 28 days' notice of the change. Your employer can request that you give this change of date in writing.
If it is not possible to give notice 28 days in advance, then you must give notice to your employer as soon as is 'reasonably practicable'.
