My employer wants me to end my maternity leave early to help out over Christmas. He has said I can then take Shared Parental Leave after this. I don't want to, but I'm afraid to say no. What can I do?

You need to remind your employer that you have a right to take as much maternity leave as you wish, up to the full amount of 52 consecutive weeks. You shouldn’t be pressured into returning to work and if you refuse to end your maternity leave early, your employer must not penalise you in anyway. That would be maternity discrimination which is unlawful.
