My partner says that because I earn more than him it makes sense for me to go back to work as soon as possible, but I don't want to be rushed. What can I do?

Even if it makes better financial sense, that is only one factor. As a mother you might, for example, want to breastfeed for as long as possible and be concerned about managing work and sleepless nights. You have the right to take as much of the 52 weeks' maternity leave as you wish. Your partner has no right to Shared Parental Leave unless or until you agree to bring your maternity leave to an early end.
